The Schooley Mill Cyclocross on November 13 featured the return of some familiar faces, as Sarah Crosskey picked up where she left off last season and Jon "Baron Von" Burns was successfully peer-pressured into racing for the first time since the Tacchino.

Kimani Nielsen made good on his promising string of podium results with a win at the Ed Sander Memorial Cyclocross on November 6.
On Sunday October 30th, a sizeable contingent of the Squadra Coppi “Azzuri Sporca” made the trip to Severna Park, Maryland for the 2nd year of Kinder Cross, finding a surprisingly dry course -- with three VERY notable exceptions. Hard racing ensued.
Squadra Coppi played host for nearly 700 racers who came out to play in the mud on September 25 for the MABRACross Super 8 Series opener, the Tacchino Ciclocross. Sponsor Cyclocross Magazine covered the race on their website, but Coppi racers also shared their own perspectives on a day that set the standard for fun on and off the course in MABRA.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Freshbikes hill ride and the Happy Hour at Vapiano in Ballston. We gave away $2000 in bike parts from Freshbikes and had a blast. For those who are not familiar with the hill ride, it is every Tuesday night in the summer. We leave at 6:30 from Mosaic Park, just behind the bike store. There are typically 200-300 riders, and there are two options, and A and a B ride. The A ride is a series of 4-5 race simulation intervals on hilly terrain. The B ride is a fast but steady pace loop through the hills of Arlington. Each ride lasts about an hour. The ride is a mix of bike racers, triathletes, and cycling enthusiasts. It is open to anyone, and there is bound to be someone else who rides at your pace.
Squadra Coppi's own Aussie racing phenom describes his victory:
The Liberty Crit, presented by Cadence Cycling and Multisport, Liberty Property Trust, and Philadelphia Ciclismo in Malvern PA is a fantastic race, and a true sprinters course. 4 lanes wide with sweeping turns instead of real corners the course is flat, fast and almost impossible to break away on. A small hill followed by a short false flat with a slight headwind on the back side of this course present the only real opportunities to get a gap on the field, and that gap rarely lasts beyond the start / finish line.

With the help of our friends and sponsors at Tiny Earth, Squadra Coppi has launched a new website. In the past, changes to the Coppi website required web programming skills, and consequently we rarely added fresh content to our site. The designers at Tiny Earth have created a site that is easily updated by even our least tech-savy members. Using a very simple browser-based content managment system, we can provide news stories, results, race information, and ride announcements in a matter of seconds. We hope you find the new site more useful and informative.
